Warren Newfield – Chairman1,2 (Chair)
Mr. Newfield is the Founder and Chairman of Tau Capital Corp., a private investment and advisory services company. Mr. Newfield was a co-founder, past President and director of AfriOre Limited. In 2007, this TSX listed company was sold to Lonmin plc for C$500 million. From 1997 to 2000, he was a director and VP Corporate Development of Platexco Inc. until the company was acquired for C$191 million by Impala Platinum. Most recently, Mr. Newfield served as Chairman and CEO of CIC Energy Corp., a TSX and BSE listed company, which was sold to Jindal Steel & Power in September 2012.
Stuart Comline
Mr. Comline is the Technical Director of Talon Metals Corp. Prior to this, Mr. Comline was the Interim President and CEO of Talon Metals. Before joining Talon Metals’ management team, Mr Comline was the Chairman and President of AfriOre Limited, a TSX-listed mining company which was sold to Lonmin plc for C$500 million in 2007. Mr. Comline has 35 years of experience in the exploration and mining industry in Africa and Canada. He spent 20 years with JCI Limited in a number of senior managerial positions including General Manager, Exploration, responsible for all exploration activities and geology. He has experience in various commodities including gold, platinum, base metals and coal. Mr. Comline holds B.Sc. Hons. degree from the University of Natal and M.Sc. degree from the University of Western Ontario.
Francis (Frank) J. Crothers 2
Mr. Crothers has been Chairman and CEO of Island Holdings Limited, a private Bahamas-based investment company since 1994. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Miami. Over the past 35 years, Mr. Crothers has served on many public and private sector boards. Mr. Crothers is currently a director of Caribbean Utilities Company, Ltd., Fortis Inc., and Templeton Funds Ltd.
Luis Mauricio F. de Azevedo
Mr. de Azevedo is Talon Metals’ Chief Operating Officer based in Brazil. He is a lawyer and a geologist with over 20 years of experience in the mining industry, dealing primarily with gold, industrial minerals, copper and nickel. Mr. Azevedo received a Geology Degree from Universidade Do Estado Do Rio De Janeiro in 1986, a Law Degree from Faculdade Integradas Candido Mendes in 1992 and a Master of Law Degree from Pontifice Universidade Catolica Do Rio de Janeiro in 1995. He is a partner at FFA Legal Support for Mining Co.
Gregory S. Kinross 1 (Chair),2
Mr. Kinross was formerly the President of CIC Energy Corp. which was sold to Jindal Steel & Power in September 2012. He is currently the President and CEO of Tau Capital Corp, a private investment and advisory services company. From 1998 to 2004 Mr. Kinross was involved in private equity and investment banking. Prior to 1998, Mr. Kinross was a Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers, South Africa. Mr. Kinross, a Chartered Accountant, received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (With Distinction), as well as a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree (With Distinction) from the University of the Witwatersrand.
Henri Van Rooyen
Mr. Van Rooyen is Talon Metals’ Chief Executive Officer. He was previously with Tau Capital where he was primarily responsible for its new business evaluation process and the implementation of exploration and development programs for mineral projects in countries across Africa and Latin America, including Brazil. Prior to joining Tau Capital, Mr. Van Rooyen was President & CEO of Groupman, a private company that built the largest silica mine in South Africa, as well as one of South Africa’s largest offshore diamond exploration projects.
Jonathan M. Schneider 1
Mr. Schneider is an active finance and resource entrepreneur. He was the co-founder and managing partner of the Novator Credit Opportunities Fund, a UK Based special situations fund he established in 2005. He currently serves as the Executive Chairman of Taurus Gold Limited and has a portfolio of alternative lending interests which he actively supports and manages. Mr. Schneider is a certified Chartered Accountant, with two degrees Cum Laude from the University of the Witwatersrand. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PWC. He has held roles with Merrill Lynch and US hedge funds Amaranth and Promethean. Mr. Schneider has also completed the Young President’s Organization Presidents Program at Harvard Business School.
